The Camino de Santiago is host of very old Catholic pilgrimage routes that lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, which hold the bones of St. James, in Galicia in northwest Spain. Each year, hundreds of thousands of “pilgrims” walk the Camino. People walk for many reasons, but there is almost always a spiritual component, providing space for contemplation and exploration of the internal self. For the past seven years, I have walked the Camino with my wife, Nancy Richards Farese, and this has served as a sort of retreat for us. These are some of the images taken along the way.
